The American – Movie Review

If you’re going to watch this movie as a spy thriller — the same thought that I came up to after watching the trailer — you will be disappointed. Even though i don’t have any evidence for what i’m going to say next but the movie seems like a remake of a cheesier, possibly Italian-made, movie of the 70’s.

It is boring for the most part. The only reason you’d go through that is to see something cluminating from all that “build up”. But really nothing does.

Clooney is clooney as usual. A lot of expressions on his face which you cannot relate to any known human emotions. He puts on some constipated look at a time when the character’s supposed to show some complex emotions. And since no viewer cannot really make any sense of that facial expression, the director (himself) complements the scene with some dialog in which the character goes on to “explain” what he’s really thinking or feeling! Even Nicholas Cage can do a better job than that.
